Meet Dr. Sahar Dagher, PharmD, APh

Clinical Pharmacist · Chronic Disease Specialist · Integrative Nutritionist

Most people have never had a pharmacist on their care team. Not in the way Dr. Sahar Dagher shows up at Ixir Health.

Dr. Sahar is a clinical advanced practice pharmacist with over a decade of experience managing complex chronic disease: diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart failure, anticoagulation. She has never worked behind a counter. From the beginning of her career, she trained in ambulatory care, sitting across from patients, reviewing their medications, adjusting their regimens, and asking the question that most clinical settings don't leave time for: what is happening in this person's daily life that their medication alone cannot fix?

That question led her to integrative nutrition. Because after years of watching patients take the right medications and still struggle, with their weight, their energy, their metabolic health, she recognized what was missing. Not a different drug. A different conversation. One about food.

She got certified. And then she built a practice around both.

The Clinical Gap She Fills

Here's what Dr. Sahar will tell you plainly: a physician can prescribe a GLP-1 medication. A dietitian can hand you a meal plan. But very few people can sit with you, understand every medication you're on, know how those medications interact with what you eat, translate that into one or two specific changes you can actually make this week, and then be there next month to adjust.

That's what Dr. Sahar does.

Her dual training in pharmacy and nutrition means she works at the intersection of two disciplines that rarely talk to each other. When a patient is on a GLP-1, she understands what's happening metabolically, what the medication is doing to appetite and digestion, and how to align nutrition strategy with that biology in real time. When a patient has chronic conditions alongside their weight goals, she adjusts. When a patient's heart health requires a different dietary framework, she builds it for them, specific, personalized, and manageable.

One Change at a Time

Dr. Sahar's philosophy is simple and, for most patients, a relief: she will never push you to change faster than you're ready to.

Every Body Balance visit begins with a deep intake, diet history, past weight loss attempts, current medications, a three-day food and beverage diary, a review of movement, and often a DEXA body composition scan so results can be tracked with precision. From there, she works through one macronutrient at a time. Protein. Fiber. Practical food label reading. Easy swaps based on your specific profile, what you like, what you tolerate, what fits your life.

She provides custom recipe cards tailored to each patient's preferences, intolerances, and medical needs. She teaches you how to read a label, not just follow a plan. And she asks one consistent question at the end of every visit: what's one thing you can realistically change before we meet again?

"Change is hard. This is a journey we're taking together. My goal is to give patients confidence in their food choices, and I take that seriously."

What Patients Are Surprised to Learn

Most patients come in expecting a nutrition consult. They leave realizing they just had a conversation that touched their medications, their lab values, their digestive health, their meal prep reality, and their long-term disease prevention, all at once. That's what happens when a clinical pharmacist and an integrative nutritionist are the same person.

She sends you home with custom recipe cards.
